Essco in Warangal — the sensible half of the Jaquar Group.

Essco, explained honestly

Essco is made by the Jaquar Group, and the simplest way to describe it is the value line of the same house. It is not a different company that happens to be cheaper, and it is not a downgrade in the parts that matter most — the cartridge, the ceramic disc, the thread standards are all recognisably from the same engineering tradition.

What you actually give up is choice and detail. Essco comes overwhelmingly in chrome. The castings are lighter. The lever shapes are plainer, and there is nothing in the range that will make a visitor comment on your bathroom. If that does not bother you, you can fit an entire house in Essco for meaningfully less than the equivalent in Jaquar and be perfectly happy with it a decade later.

When we recommend Essco over Jaquar

• Rental property. Fittings in a let house get treated differently from fittings in your own. Essco costs less to replace and performs the same job.
• Servant bathrooms and utility areas. Nobody needs a gold matt basin mixer next to the washing machine.
• Whole-house builds on a budget. Where the bathroom count is three or four, the difference across the whole job is substantial.
• Replacing one broken tap. If the rest of the bathroom is plain chrome anyway, Essco will match perfectly well.

When to spend the extra on Jaquar

Where the fitting is on show and the bathroom has been designed rather than simply plumbed. A master bathroom with a stone counter and a wall-hung basin deserves the heavier casting and the finish options, and the difference is visible from across the room. It is also worth it for anything concealed in a wall — a concealed diverter is not a part you want to chase out and replace, so buy the better one first time.

What we keep on the shelf

The Essco ranges we move most are the basin mixers and pillar taps, the health faucets, angle valves and stop cocks, and the plain sanitaryware. Those are stocked rather than ordered. Ranges include Aspire, Orian, Orbit and Elements, and codes run in the same three-letter pattern as their parent brand — APR for Aspire, ORI for Orian, and so on.

Because Essco parts are inexpensive and interchangeable, this is also the range plumbers raid us for at eight in the morning when a job has gone wrong. We keep it deliberately well stocked for exactly that reason.

Warranty and genuine stock

Essco fittings carry a manufacturer warranty — typically ten years on the body of the faucet ranges. That warranty depends on the product having come through the authorised channel. As with any well-known Indian brand there are convincing fakes in circulation, and the difference does not show until the cartridge fails. Buying from an authorised dealer in Warangal is how you avoid finding out the hard way.

Come and compare them side by side

The most useful thing we can offer is the chance to hold both. Pick up an Essco basin mixer and the equivalent Jaquar one, and the decision usually makes itself in about ten seconds.
